Despite its low budget, the zombie show Z Nation has an interesting storyline, clever characters and a witty humour. However, the show is not perfect.
The plot revolves around a ragtag group of survivors who are tasked with rescuing a man with the power to cure the zombie apocalypse. This man is the only survivor of the zombie bite, and his blood contains the cure for humanity.
The ragtag group's mission includes transporting this man to California, where he can help save his loved ones. The group is led by Lieutenant Mark Hammond, who is the last member of the Delta Force squad.
The other members of the ragtag group include Addison Grace "Addy" Carver, a former member of the Blue Sky camp. She is a communication specialist for the survivor group. Mack, Addy's former lover, is the other member of the group. They are reunited after a traumatic incident. The ragtag group also includes the Inuit girl Kaya, who lives with Nana and Uncle Koska.
Although the zombie apocalypse happened three years ago, the show's first season spans from the Great Plains to the East Coast. The series features numerous zombie battles throughout the season. The episodes are imaginatively edited.
The show also features a notable male zombie. These are not the super fast, shambling zombies you'd expect from a zombie movie, but rather a more resilient variety.
The 'Sisters of Mercy' camp is also featured. Among the cast are a female priest and an Inuit girl named Kaya.
