The iPhone 14 Pro Max

Among the iPhones released this year, the iPhone 14 Pro Max offers the most features. It comes with an Always On Display (AOD) and a new 120Hz ProMotion display refresh rate. It is also the first iPhone to feature autofocus.

The display is OLED, and has a resolution of 2796 x 1290. It also uses Apple's Photonic Engine image pipeline to offer more detailed textures and colors.

The front camera is a 12MP telephoto lens. It also features a TrueDepth camera system, which includes a circular cutout in the screen to house its sensors.

The phone's battery lasts for a decent amount of time. For instance, the iPhone 14 Pro lasts for 20 hours in video playback and streaming. The Pro Max lasts for 29 hours in these same categories.

Its newest safety features include the Emergency SOS via satellite feature. It connects to a satellite when the phone is not connected to a network. It will also notify emergency contacts and dial 911. The feature is free for two years for owners of the iPhone 14.

The always-on display isn't perfect, though. You may find it difficult to see the screen, especially in low-light situations. In some cases, the Always-On Display works fine, but for others it can be a jarring experience. There's also a new feature called Passkeys, which lets you change your passwords. This new option is a welcome change, but it doesn't replace the lock screen customization that's already available in iOS 16.

The new iPhones have improved hardware, including a dual-core accelerometer that can detect G-forces up to 256Gs. The gyroscope also helps with Crash Detection, a feature that detects a crash and uses the iPhone's improved accelerometer to trigger an alert.
