Originally known as Blue Ribbon Sports, Nike is one of the most successful sportswear brands in history. Its iconic Air Jordan shoes are worn by some of the best athletes in the world. It offers a wide range of athletic footwear, apparel, accessories and sports equipment for different sports. It also sponsors a number of top athletes and is a leader in socially responsible practices.

In the early days, Nike's primary focus was on sports footwear. It was a distributor of Japanese shoe company Onitsuka Tiger. In the mid-1980s, Nike expanded its business by acquiring sportswear brands. In the latest fiscal year, Nike's footwear accounted for more than 62% of its revenue.

Since its founding, Nike has developed a number of new technologies and products, including the first auto-lacing shoe. The company has also been a leader in social responsibility, committing to sustainability, diversity, inclusion and leveling the playing field.

Nike's "Just Do It" campaign from 1988, which features Walter Stack running across the Golden Gate Bridge, is the first Nike commercial to use a Beatles song. It also featured the first pair of Nike shoes to be made with a waffle iron.

Nike's most prominent ad campaign is the LiveStrong bracelet, which was launched in 2008. The company also made the first-ever Niketown store, which opened in Portland, Oregon. The logo for the company was designed by Carolyn Davidson for $35.

Nike is also a champion brand builder, and has won a number of advertising awards. In 2000, Nike won an Emmy for the best advertising ad.
