Located in Elmhurst, Queens, the Queens Center is a large urban shopping mall that houses a number of prominent retailers and restaurants. A few of the more notable stores here include Best Buy, Macy's, The Cheesecake Factory, Apple and Hollister.
The center also boasts an IMAX theater, a mini golf course, and a Fusion Trampoline Park. For families, this is the place to be. The site is easily accessible by foot from Preston city centre, or by bus and car. There are free parking areas available nearby. The mall also features a number of other high-end retailers and eateries.
In terms of the retail trade, the most popular items on offer range from $8 sweaters to expensive-looking Smartphones. The Queens center also contains several smaller stores, such as the DSW Inc. and Stern's. The building was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.
The Queens center's most interesting piece of trivia is the "Meri-Me-More" sign, which is displayed on the front lawn of the building. This trippy tchotchke was presumably a gift from the owner of the building, a neo-Victorian lady. The sign's motto is "Nothing is more precious than our community," and is a fitting reminder that the center is home to more than just retail.
The best of the gizmos of the ilk can be found on the Queens' Avenues, where yuletummy red and yuletummy green sweaters are just one of the many options on offer. The center's newest addition is The Disney Store, which opened in October of 2009. While these stores are new to the center, the mall's roster of notable names includes Macy's, the Cheesecake Factory, Hollister and Adidas. The mall also features a number of notable restaurants, including Chick-fil-A, Shake Shack and Apple. For those who like to dine on their way to the store, the mall's newest food court is the largest on the Kohala Coast.
The best part is that all of these stores are open to the public, and there are several free shuttle buses operating throughout the center. There are also a number of free parking options on the premises, making the center an ideal place to do your holiday shopping. The Queens center is not to be missed, and a visit is highly recommended. The tidbits and other trinkets to be had here will make you proud to call Queens home. It's also the best shopping center to see the lights at night, and it's the place to go for a night out on the town.
