J Balvin

Known for his catchy, Latin-pop crossover songs, J Balvin is one of the biggest artists in the world today. He was born and raised in Medellin, Colombia. He moved to the United States to study English and learn the business savvy of P. Diddy and 50 Cent. He later returned to his home country to pursue his musical career. He has worked with a variety of artists including Ariana Grande, Cardi B, Pharrell Williams, Wid & Yandel, Ozuna, Major Lazer and Justin Bieber. He has won three platinum albums for his singles. He has also earned the RIAA's first-ever diamond certification for a Latin artist.

As a child, J Balvin was interested in music. He started playing guitar in a rock band when he was eleven years old. After learning the basics of guitar, he began to study international business. He was inspired by hard-rocking American bands and hip-hop artists. He also was interested in R&B and house music.

After eight years of pursuing a career as an independent artist, J Balvin signed with Capitol Records. He released his first single, "Panas", in 2004. He then moved back to his native country, where he began to perform at urban clubs in Medellin. He was later signed to EMI Colombia. In 2013, he released his debut album, titled "J Balvin."

In summer of 2015, he released his second studio album, titled "Ginza." The album was a success in the music world. It reached the top of the charts in Mexico and Italy, and received platinum records in both countries. In the United States, the album occupied the number one spot on the US Latin chart. It stayed in the top of the Hot Latin Songs list for 22 weeks.
