GMC Trucks and SUVs

GMC

Founded in 1902 in Detroit, Michigan, the GMC brand of trucks and SUVs is a division of General Motors. The GMC logo first appeared on the front grill of a General Motors truck in 1912. This is where the name "GMC" came from. After 1911, the company was renamed the General Motors Truck Company. The GMC Truck Company continued to produce heavy-duty trucks, buses, ambulances, and motor homes.

After World War II, the company continued to produce a range of civilian vehicles. It was during this period that the company acquired the assets of the Yellow Truck & Coach, which made six-wheel-drive military trucks. These were built in different lengths and configurations. The assets of the Yellow Truck & Coach were renamed the GMC Truck & Coach Division in 1943. In 1981, the GMC Truck & Coach Division became part of the GM Worldwide Truck & Bus Group. In 1985, GMC introduced its Safari van. The Safari was described as a personal-size people mover that could be garaged.

During the 1930s, GMC produced light-duty trucks, buses, and trailer chassis. In the 1950s, it manufactured commercial trucks, cargo trucks, and searchlight trucks. In the 1970s and 1980s, GM developed mini-pickups to compete with the Chevrolet Silverado. The company also launched the 1972 Sprint, which combined features from a sedan and a pickup truck. These models were marketed under the GMC and Pontiac brands. The company has expanded its model selection in recent years, adding more options and making the models more accessible.

In 2017, the GMC Denali line of luxury SUVs surpassed one million vehicles sold. It is considered a unique sub-brand of the company and represents the pinnacle of luxurious motoring. The Denali lineup includes a range of vehicles with bold exterior styling and unique interior trims. The new Denali models offer a wide variety of standard equipment and options to customize the vehicle. These include a MultiPro tailgate that can drop and re-stow into the bed of the vehicle, creating extra storage space or steps into the bed. The Denali also offers an optional CarbonPro bed that is a carbon-fiber composite material.

The Denali models feature a signature chrome grille and bright aluminum wheels. The interior of the GMC Denalis also features elegant chrome accents. Its Quadrasteer 4-wheel steering is standard. The interior is equipped with a dashboard driver information center and an 11-speaker Bose stereo system.

GMC has a large SUV portfolio, with models ranging from the compact Terrain to the full-size Yukon. The Sierra HD series is also available, which includes powerful and capable pickup trucks. The new edition of the Hummer will also be added to the lineup. It will be available in the fall of 2021. The edition of the Hummer will come with a 1,000-horsepower engine and hit 60 mph in 3 seconds.

The GMC Denali is the premium version of the brand. The Denali line is designed to appeal to a luxury buyer who appreciates the features and style of a GMC. The interiors of the Denali vehicles feature real aluminum accents and unique trims, and the models feature the signature Denali chrome grille.
