F-Zero X Review

Developed by an unidentified development team, F-Zero X is a futuristic racing game set in the 26th century. It follows the story of James McCloud, who is hired by a ranger to win the Grand Prix.

Unlike the original SNES F-Zero, this sequel features a completely new roster of 30 vehicles, as well as improved collision-based combat. Its overall visuals, however, weren't very impressive. For example, the vehicles are low-poly and have simplistic designs. In addition, its tracks are bland and lacking in detail.

One of the main features of F-Zero X is its boost abilities. These abilities allow the player to temporarily accelerate, which helps them go faster. In order to use the boosts, players must press the right trigger. Performing a shoulder charge, for instance, requires a double-tap of the R or Z-trigger.

The tracks are also quite tricky, and can contain a variety of obstacles. They include loops, half-pipes, and 360-degree tunnels. The vehicle's health meter can deplete quickly if the car gets bumped or crashes into a wall. In addition, there are pit lanes, which are designed to help the player regain their energy.

In addition to its fast-paced gameplay, F-Zero X also has an enjoyable multiplayer mode. The game supports up to four players locally. Each driver has their own machine, which can be customized in the F-Zero X Expansion Kit. A player can also create their own custom courses, and save them as a file.
