Originally released for the Super Nintendo, F Zero has been remastered and re-released for the Super NES Classic Edition in September 2017. In the game, players race with one of four hovercars, which are higher technology machines that can hover over ground at incredible speeds. Each of the four cars has different characteristics, such as acceleration, top speed, and traction.
Players also have to deal with the fact that the machines use magnetic repulsion, which means that they can explode if they hit something too hard. The cars can also use Spin Attack, which helps to push opponents out of the way.
In the game, you play as John Tanaka, a friend of Jody Summer's. He comes to F-Zero to propose to her. If he wins, he will marry her.
The game has two modes, a Practice and a Grand Prix. In the Practice mode, you will race with other hovercars. The goal is to beat your own personal record. If you don't manage to do so, you'll have to restart the race. The best players will always find new ways to improve their lap records in the practice mode.
The Grand Prix mode requires you to complete a series of races. If you place less than third, you'll have to start the race again. There are fifteen tracks divided into three leagues. The top-ranked pilots compete for the championship.
There are other characters, such as the bounty hunter Captain Falcon and the hitman Pico. These characters have their own hovercars.
