F-Zero Game Review

Unlike most racing games, F-Zero emphasizes pure unadulterated speed. The vehicles are built to hover above the ground, and use magnetic repulsion to accelerate. In addition to their ability to travel at incredible speeds, F-Zero also features a physics system that allows cars to fall out of the track. These accidents can be spectacular.

The main character, Captain Falcon, is an old-school racer who is often rated as the best in the series. He's part racecar driver and bounty hunter.

In addition to the captain, F-Zero's characters include several unusual racers. For example, there's the Golden Fox, which has the highest acceleration but the worst traction. There's also the Blood Falcon, which is a clone of Captain Falcon. This one has the same sinister voice in the theme song, but is actually a young kid.

Other F-Zero characters include Draq, a 137-year-old alien; and Pico, a hitman. Both characters have weird friendships with Draq. They are both attempting to get the recipient to recognize their machines.

The game was released for the SNES, but it was ported to the Nintendo EAD's Virtual Console and later to the Wii's Virtual Console. The game has been re-released on the Wii U's Virtual Console in February 2013.

The F-Zero series has been a long-running franchise. Originally, the series was created by Nintendo EAD, but later multiple outside companies developed the games. In addition to the original game, the series has several spin-offs, such as Zero Racers, which feature vehicles racing in tunnels.
