
During the mid-2000s, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson became a full-fledged movie star. He appeared in several movies, including The Mummy Returns (2001), Jumanji: The Next Level (2002), and Skyscraper (2007). He also starred in the Fast & Furious franchise.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson was born in Hayward, California, on May 2, 1972. His father is Black Nova Scotian, and his mother is Samoan. Dwayne's grandfather, Peter Fanene Maivia, is a legendary Samoan wrestler who appeared in the James Bond film You Only Live Twice (1967).
Johnson attended Freedom High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he graduated in 1995 with a degree in criminology. After graduating, Johnson went to the University of Miami, where he played football. In 1991, he played for the national champions. He also appeared on the sports show "That '70s Show," and had a role in the movie "The Tooth Fairy."
After college, Johnson went to the University of Miami, and then he played for the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League. He injured his back during his senior year. It ended his college football career. He then decided to become a professional wrestler. He joined the World Wrestling Federation in 1996.
In 1997, he won his first WWF championship. He later left WWE and signed with a Canadian league, the Canadian League. He was booed during his matches, however.
He returned to WWE in 2001 and he was reunited with former wrestler Randy Savage. In 2002, he appeared in the prequel to The Mummy Returns, The Scorpion King. The movie earned him $5.5 million.
